SUMMARY:Getting Started in Underwater Photography
DESCRIPTION:NYUPS is committed to helping underwater photographers imp
 rove and getting more divers into underwater photography. In-order to 
 meet this goal NYUPS will be presenting a free seminar series at some 
 of our upcoming monthly meetings. We will start with the basics and wo
 rk our way up to advanced techniques. Throughout the year, our meeting
 s will include these seminars, featured speakers, as well as the theme
 d “show &amp; tell” format that has become so popular.\n\nAt the M
 arch 2nd NYUPS meeting, Larry Cohen will kick off the seminar series w
 ith “Getting Started in Underwater Photography”. He will talk abou
 t why wide-angle and macro lenses are so important. He will also cover
  basic lighting and color corrections. The seminar will cover both Poi
 nt &amp; Shoot, and SLR camera systems. The seminar will cover what ge
 ar is needed, and basic techniques when starting out.\n\nPlease note t
 hat in addition to those who want to learn about getting started in un
 derwater photography, we welcome all experienced underwater photograph
 ers and NYUPS regulars to attend the meeting. Come enjoy the social as
 pect of NYUPS and also take part in the discussion and share your idea
 s and techniques with the newbies.\n\nNYUPS wants to share the joys of
  underwater imaging with everyone interested. So invite all your frien
 ds, new photographers, and divers who are thinking about getting into 
 underwater photography. Maybe you want a quick refresher yourself. Eve

  worked as a studio and location photographer since the late 70's. His
  clients included Baccarat Crystal, Fuji, Kodak, Sony, General Electri
 c, Time Warner and others. His underwater photos have appeared in such
  publications as Sport Diver, Immersed Magazine, Sub Aqua Journal, Ale
 rt Diver and Northeast Dive News. His photos have also appeared in boo
 ks such as National Audubon Society Field Guide to Tropical Marine Fis
 hes. In order to extend bottom time and to get closer to marine life h
 e now dives with a Closed Circuit Rebreather. Larry is a founding memb
 er of the New York Underwater Photo Society. He is a past president of
  The NYC Sea Gypsies dive club and is on the committee of Oceanblue Di
