NYUPS

The New York Underwater Photographic Society

We want to hear from you. What do you want to see in our monthly meetings?

Please add any additional comments here after you have taken the survey.

If you have not taken the survey you can access it here:

The survey will stay open until sometime in Feb. We will do this periodically to ensure that we are organizing meetings to meet your needs.

Thanks for taking the time to provide feedback!

Jason,

Some topics I would like to see...

On video topics, I would like to see more about translating common film, camera techniques, and “formula” topics.

Film techniques are consistent motion and flow – example: if the model or subject is moving camera R to L, then all shots of that actor or subject should be from that side moving in the same direction.

Camera Techniques. Underwater we have a natural crane and dolly (if you can get a still current) How best to use these? How best to plan this with uncooperative subjects?

In film you need your wide master shot, your medium, and your close-up. Now for a wreck and a model you can have this pre-planned. But how for other shots of moving and disappearing subjects? How to cure the light balance distance ambient light betrayal?
Jason,

But, for other non static subjects, how do you ensure that you get the shots you want? How can you come up with a good story (seems limited unless a real fictional type of film, or a standard documentary.) Then, how best to track your shots acquired and needed?

Hope this is clear. 

Thanks Geoffrey -

Please post these questions in the video group.

I'm hoping that Rick Morris and Ron Chau will chime in there and answer some for you. You can certainly use this site as a venue to get answers between meetings or if the meetings don't address specific topics.
