Arctica Bar & Grill
384 3rd Ave (27th & 28th st), New York, NY, United States

As 2010 comes to an end it is time to reflect on what happened during the past year. Hopefully you had the opportunity to explore and document the world underwater. At the December NYUPS meeting we would like to see the images you created over the past year. It does not matter if you were diving on a local shipwreck or explored a reef on the other side of the world. It also does not matter if you used a small point & shoot camera or the newest SLR.
Send us 10 of your favorite photos or five minutes of your favorite video that you produced in 2010. As usual be prepared to talk about your thought process, techniques, or anything else of interest about the images.
IMAGE SPECS: The ideal size of each landscape orientation image is 10” wide x 7.5” high – no larger. If an image is portrait, the image should be no more than 7.5” high x whatever width (certainly less than 10”.) If you size your images by pixels, the images should be a maximum of 720 pixels wide by 540 pixels high for landscape, and 540 pixels high for portrait. All images should be 72 DPI, or pixels per inch, and .JPG file type.
If you would like to submit videos, please bring them to the meeting as Quicktime files on flash drive, CD or DVD. Videos should be clips less then 5 minutes each.
In your email, on the subject line please type in caps “NYUPS images – “2010”
Please email all your images to Steve Edelstein at
Date of submission-
Please submit images before 12/03/10. Any images submitted after that cannot be included. You will receive a confirmation of the receipt of your images. If you don’t, please contact Steve Edelstein at, and cc Larry Cohen at
Please note that you do not need to submit images to attend the meeting – feel free to just come and enjoy the images, share and learn a little about shooting underwater! We want to stress that all of our meetings are for photographers of all levels. It doesn't matter what camera you use or how long you've been shooting, NYUPS wants to share the joys of underwater imaging with everyone interested.
A reminder – this is not a competition. The idea is to share your best or favorite images or video, your techniques, and the thought processes that went into the creation of your work. In addition, you will also learn from our friendly group of underwater image makers.
As always, the admission to the event is free, but only by RSVP. Please RSVP to
We look forward to seeing your images and sharing food and drink with you at Artctica Bar & Grill On Tuesday Dec. 7th!
