The underwater world is filled with tiny creatures that range from the beautiful to the down right bizarre. As underwater photographers, we get to record this magnificent world. Since the biggest rule of underwater photography is to get close, many photographers concentrate on the small.
At our January meeting we would like you to share your macro photos. We want to see the small creatures you have documented from around the world, or around the corner. Whether you used an expensive full frame SLR or a small point & shoot camera, we want to see your images and hear about the techniques and the work-flow you used to create them.
To ensure that everyone gets their moment in the spotlight, there will be a new rule for submissions: we suggest around ten submissions or five minutes of video, but no matter how many images you show please present them in no more than 5-10 minutes.
The ideal size of each landscape orientation image is 10” wide x 7.5” high – no larger. If an image is portrait, the image should be no more than 7.5” high x whatever width (certainly less than 10”.) If you size your images by pixels, the images should be a maximum of 720 pixels wide by 540 pixels high for landscape, and 540 pixels high for portrait.
All images should be 72 DPI, or pixels per inch, and .JPG files If you would like to submit videos, please bring them to the meeting as Quicktime files on flash drive, CD or DVD. Videos should be clips less then 5 minutes each.
In your email, on the subject line please type in caps “NYUPS images –Macro.” Please email all your images to Steve Edelstein at firstname.lastname@example.org.
DATE OF SUBMISSION-
Please submit images before 01/05/12. Any images submitted after that cannot be included. You will receive a confirmation of the receipt of your images. If you don’t, please contact Steve Edelstein at email@example.com, and cc Larry Cohen at Larry@liquidimagesuw.com.
Please note that you do not need to submit images to attend the meeting – feel free to just come and enjoy the images, share and learn a little about shooting macro underwater! We want to stress that all of our meetings are for photographers of all levels. It doesn't matter what camera you use or how long you've been shooting, NYUPS wants to share the joys of underwater imaging with everyone interested.
A reminder – this is not a competition. The idea is to share your best or favorite images or video, your techniques, and the thought processes that went into the creation of your work. In addition, you will also learn from our friendly group of underwater image makers.
We look forward to seeing your images and sharing food and drink with you at Artctica Bar & Grill On Tuesday, January 10th !
