The most important rule of underwater photography is to get as close to your subject as possible. For this reason working with wide-angle lenses is very important.
At our July meeting we would like you to share your wide-angle photos. We want to see the large marine life, wrecks, caves, underwater scenics or any photo you used a wide-angle lens. Whether you used an expensive full frame SLR or a small point & shoot camera, we want to see your images and hear about the techniques and the work flow you used to create them.
We encourage you to submit up to 10 of your favorite wide-angle shots. As always, feel free to include images for which you would like to hear the group's recommendations.
IMAGE SPECS: The ideal size of each landscape orientation image is 10” wide x 7.5” high – no larger. If an image is portrait, the image should be no more than 7.5” high x whatever width (certainly less than 10”.) If you size your images by pixels, the images should be a maximum of 720 pixels wide by 540 pixels high for landscape, and 540 pixels high for portrait. All images should be 72 DPI, or pixels per inch, and .JPG file type.
If you would like to submit videos, please bring them to the meeting as Quicktime files on flash drive, CD or DVD. Videos should be clips less then 5 minutes each.
In your email, on the subject line please type in caps “NYUPS images – “Wide-Angle”
Please email all your images to Steve Edelstein at email@example.com
Date of submission-
Please submit images before 07/01/10. Any images submitted after that cannot be included. You will receive a confirmation of the receipt of your images. If you don’t, please contact Steve Edelstein at firstname.lastname@example.org, and cc Larry Cohen at Larry@liquidimagesuw.com
Please note that you do not need to submit images to attend the meeting – feel free to just come and enjoy the images, share and learn a little about shooting wide-angle underwater! We want to stress that all of our meetings are for photographers of all levels. It doesn't matter what camera you use or how long you've been shooting, NYUPS wants to share the joys of underwater imaging with everyone interested.
A reminder – this is not a competition. The idea is to share your best or favorite images or video, your techniques, and the thought processes that went into the creation of your work. In addition, you will also learn from our friendly group of underwater image makers.
As always, the admission to the event is free, but only by RSVP. Please RSVP to rsvp@NYUPS.org.
We look forward to seeing your images and sharing food and drink with you at Artctica Bar & Grill On Tuesday, July 13th !
