The popularity of small, easy to use point & shoot digital cameras has changed how we create images. Most of these cameras can capture video as well as stills. Small video cams including the Flip Video and GoPro Hero cams are also very popular. Also digital SLR cameras of all price ranges now capture video. Many divers are putting these cameras in housings, and capturing the world underwater in motion. At the September NYUPS meeting we want to see the video you have been taking underwater with small point & shoot cameras and other small video cams!

Send us your edited masterpiece or raw footage; we want to see what people are doing with video. Please limit your footage to 8 minutes. It is ok if it is one 8 minute piece or 4, 2-minute videos, that is up to you.

Due to the size of video files please drop off or mail a disk. Contact Steve Edelstein at unclstevie@aol.com for details. Creating a link with services such as Dropbox is also acceptable. Please submit videos no later then 09/08/10.

We also have a special treat; Carl Saieva from Sartek Industries will be joining us. Sartek was the first company to use HID lamps underwater back in 1995. Now they have embraced LED lamps. Carl will be showing us everything from small lights ideal for lighting videos shot with small cameras up to a 10,500 lumen light for broadcast quality productions. Carl will also be showing us a Hero GoPro HD camera he modified.

Please note that you do not need to submit videos to attend the meeting – feel free to just come and enjoy the videos, share and learn what divers are doing with video underwater! We want to stress that all of our meetings are for image-makers of all levels. NYUPS wants to share the joys of underwater imaging with everyone interested.

A reminder – this is not a competition. The idea is to share your best or favorite videos, your techniques, and the thought processes that went into the creation of your work. In addition, you will also learn from our friendly group of underwater image-makers.

As always, the admission to the event is free, but only by RSVP. Please RSVP to rsvp@NYUPS.org. We look forward to seeing your images and sharing food and drink with you at Artctica Bar & Grill On Tuesday, September 14th!

Note: Due to the 1st Tuesday falling the day after Labor Day the meeting date has been changed to the 2nd Tuesday. We will be back to our regular schedule in October.
