"How to Get Started in Underwater Video"
NYUPS is proud to announce our first regular monthly meeting of 2008. Our speaker will be Steve Barsky, an accomplished author, underwater photographer and videographer. His photos have been used in numerous magazine articles, catalogs, advertising, training programs, and textbooks.
Steve will give a presentation about "How to Get Started in Underwater Video", with particular attention to photographers who want to add video to the way they capture images underwater. If you already have a photographic eye, making the switch to video is not difficult, but it does involve a different way of telling stories. Steve will guide you through what’s involved in putting a video project together, including some clips from his own projects. As always, the admission to the event is free, but only by RSVP.
A prolific writer, Barsky’s work has been published in Alert Diver, Diver, Undersea Biomedical Reports, Santa Barbara Magazine, Selling Scuba, Scuba Times, Underwater Magazine, and many other publications. Steve has also produced six professional video projects including a CD-ROM for Viking dry suits and DVDs on Dry Suit Diving in Depth, The Simple Guide to Boat and Wreck Diving, California Marine Life Identification, and Choosing and Using Dive Computers. As the author of Underwater Digital Video Made Easy, Steve is able to talk with ease and authority on the subject of under water videography, and that’s exactly what Steve will talk about for NYUPS.
When: May 6th, 2008 – 7:00 PM
Where: Arctica Bar & Grill
384 Third Avenue (Between 27th & 28th)
Thank you to Larry Cohen who organized the venue for our regular meetings. The format of these meetings will be a little different from our theater events. These meetings will not have an open bar and the venue has been gracious enough to provide us the space for these meetings. Attendees are encouraged to order food and drinks to help support the venue – so come hungry and thirsty and get ready for a great underwater video session from Steve!
