Raja Empat Indonesia, last dive of a 2 week trip. On the trip was David Doubilet, one of my role models. Three of us decided to go on the last dive, Bernado Sambra , a professional photographer from Peru, Erwin Filius, dive guide on Pelgian & Wakatobi, and myself. We found a large and dense baitball that hung with us for about an hour, and we took turns modeling and shooting for one another. It was a magical dive!

Thanks for your comment. Likewise, I've throughly enjoyed checking your pictures pictures. You're hitting some homeruns. Also, my compliments to Wendy DPG for her part in many of them.
Hi Jason,
Got your email regarding the 2010 trips.
Once you've got some more info on The Sardine Run let me know.
I've always wanted to it.
Thanx - Peter
Hi Jason,
Sorry I couldn't get back to you sooner - Halloween weekend at the restaurant!
Actually, we just got back from Guadaloupe a couple of weeks ago. It was a fantastic trip organized by Leslie Leany and led by Rodney Fox. The boat, crew and food were great.
I'm glad you enjoyed the photo's. This guy here looks like he's smiling thinking that I'm dinner. You got to hang outside the cage to get the shot - But then you fall back in REAL FAST.
The size of these Great Whites was amazing!
Thanx once again,
Peter
Well, my wide angle shots in Lembah have not been good--as as good as macro. If one goes to the upper end of the straits and the other side (near Lembah Island) the wide angle is easier. The trip in Oct. will conbine the two areas. I can hardly wait. I am ready to get wet. However, have to stay focused on the NW and Kenya trips before Indonesia. A period of trips coming up for sure. HAL C.
thanks, for your comments. This will be my 4th time (mistake in counting in the 1st email) to Lembah. I love the macro opportunities there. Of course, the protected and shallow diving conditions is a plus also. I wish I could use my D3 underwater but will continue to use the D 100s. Just can't see the extra cost of the housing for the underwater at this time. Take care. HAL
You are the man. Wonderful photos. Going out to NW (non-diving) to see the family and sight see next thursday and will be gone through the next meeting.
In middle August, going on a Kenya photo safari to Kenya for 2 1/2 weeks so missing the Sept. meeting. Also, on Oct. !st heading back to Lembah Straits, Indonesia for another diving trip. 3rd time there. Next meeting for me will be the one in Nov.
Get wet soon and often,
Hal Crosthwaite
Thanks! I´ve been in NY last March, spending some time (and some $!!!) in B&H shop, of course.
Next travel is to Mabul, Sipadan and Kapalai (Malaysia), July, 26th. I hope I´ll send nice pictures from there.
We have also just discovered that Quiznos & ESPN2 have a smoke & mirrors shark tournament series called "Quiznos Madfin":
http://quiznosmadfin.com
This series claims to be friendly to the sharks because it is all catch & release. Boycott Quiznos & ESPN! Since Disney owns ESPN, dump Disney stock and tell everyone you know who cares about the ocean and the environment do the same - let's get serious about this!
Support the ocean by writing letters. Quiznos must back out of the ESPN2 "Madfin" shark tournament. It is unacceptable. Email Quiznos here:

ESPN is owned by Disney, we must let them know that this is unacceptable and that we will dump their stock and persuade as many others to do so as well. Email Disney investor relations and let them know how you feel!

Posted a little story about a conceptual photography project that Wendy & I worked on in Guatemala last November - hope you enjoy the images! You can access the story here.
