I have been working as a studio and location photographer since the late 70's. My clients included Baccarat Crystal, Fuji, Kodak, Sony, General Electric, Time Warner and others. These days I am a technical writer for B&H Photo. I deal with everything underwater on the B&H website as well as the catalog. My underwater photos have appeared in publications such as Sport Diver, Immersed Magazine, Sub Aqua Journal, and Northeast Dive News, were I now write a monthly column. In order to extend bottom time and to get closer to marine life I dive with a Closed Circuit Rebreather. I am the current president of The NYC Sea Gypsies dive club and is on the committee of Oceanblue Divers dive club in Manhattan.
What Underwater Photo or Video Equipment Do you Use?
Most of the time I use a Olympus E410 or E520 cameras in Olympus housings. I use both Sea & Sea YS110a strobes connected the housings with a Athena adapter or use the new Olympus UFL-2 Strobes. Sometimes I use an Olympus FL36 land strobe in a Olympus strobe housing. I always use Ikelite strobes for backlighting because of the external slaves
I will be running a FREE underwater photography session at B&H Photo megastore on Sunday, June 29th. The session will be about 3 hrs long starting at 1:00 PM. We will cover basic Point & Shoot camera gear as well as advanced SLR systems. We will be concentrating on what gear is needed in order to create images underwater.
There will be some equipment companies showing gear that is not normally on display at B&H.
Since the event is on a Sunday I hope everyone from NYUPS will be able to make it. Seating is limited, RSVP via the B&H Event Space early.
